Mowing frequency is one of those things people either massively over-think or completely ignore, and Goa's two-season climate means the right answer actually changes significantly across the year.
Dry season mowing
During the dry months, most residential lawns in Goa do well on a mow every one to two weeks, depending on grass type and how much the lawn is watered and fed. A well-fertilised, well-irrigated lawn grows faster and needs more frequent mowing than one on a lighter maintenance budget — which is worth knowing before assuming a lawn that needs mowing every ten days is somehow being neglected.
Monsoon mowing
Growth accelerates significantly during the monsoon — a lawn that needed mowing every two weeks in the dry season can easily need it weekly once the rains set in. Skipping mowing during wet spells because the ground is soft is a common mistake; it just means the grass gets ahead of the schedule and the next cut has to remove more growth at once, which stresses the lawn more than staying on schedule would.
The "one-third rule" that actually matters
Regardless of season, never cut more than about a third of the grass blade height in a single mow. Letting a lawn grow long between cuts and then scalping it back down stresses the grass and often leaves it patchy or yellowed for weeks afterward — a much worse outcome than simply mowing more frequently at a consistent height.
Mowing height by grass type
Mexican grass generally looks and performs best kept fairly short and dense. Bermuda grass tolerates a similar range but handles slightly longer growth between cuts without looking unkempt, part of why it's often chosen for lower-frequency-maintenance lawns.

Beyond appearance, inconsistent mowing weakens turf density over time, letting weeds establish in thinning patches — which then require separate treatment that a consistent schedule would have avoided entirely.
